The joy of Christmas realized thanks to the efforts of NABTU, Helmets to Hardhats and the AFL-CIO
The program began in conjunction with the DC Mayor’s Office of Veterans’ Affairs, and now has gravitated to a partnership with the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The program was created out of a need to assist struggling US military families by providing the means by which they could have a joyous Holiday season with their families.
Working in conjunction with the US Department of Veterans’ Affairs, North America’s Building Trades Unions, the AFL-CIO, and Helmets to Hardhats fulfill the Christmas wishes of the children of military service veterans who presently find themselves in dire economic straits, and unable to provide a happy holiday season for their families.
In 2014 we granted Holiday Gift Wishes for 60 military families; and in 2015 we helped out 61 Families.
This year, we are fortunate enough to grant the holiday gift wishes for 50 families.
In addition, North America’s Building Trades Unions and the Helmets to Hardhats program is working with the Department of Veterans Affairs to help place struggling military vets into skilled craft apprenticeship programs.
