  • Lending a Helping Hand in Washington, DC - 10/27/2014

The Children of Mine Youth Center in Washington, DC received some unexpected, yet entirely welcome, assistance on October 27th when volunteers from the "Helmets to Hardhats" program, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) District Council 51, the Community Hub for Opportunities in Construction Employment (C.H.O.I.C.E.) and the United State Coast Guard, lent a hand to help re-furbish the center's physical structure.
  • President McGarvey Extols the Virtues of Union Apprenticeship Programs at Congressional Black Caucus Conference - 9/29/2014

Participating in a September 25 panel discussion at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference, North America's Building Trades Unions President Sean McGarvey delivered a compelling narrative on how union construction apprenticeship programs are delivering measurable value for whole industries and individual companies, while simultaneously building pathways to quality career training for historically under-served communities, like minorities, women, and transitioning military veterans.
  • 9/11 - We Remember - 9/11/2014

Today marks the 13th anniversary of the tragic and horrific events that occurred on September 11, 2001.  North America's Building Trades Unions remember and honor those who lives were lost in the cowardly and dastardly acts of that day - including dozens of rank and file members of our affiliated unions.  We also honor those members of our unions in the greater New York area who were some of the first to arrive on the scene in the aftermath of the Twin Towers' collapse in order to put their skills to work helping in the search and recovery efforts.
